In this post, I will tell you something important about Blogger's default stat counter and the reason why you shouldn’t solely depend on it.
But before we go on, let’s take a look at what a stats counter is first.
Statistics Counter is a real-time web analytics tool or service that helps you track, analyze, and understand where your visitors are coming from, their browsers and devices, their behaviors, etc.
It's a really cool tool. You can understand how your site is performing if you’re using a statistics counter on your site.
Blogger has a default stats counter that tracks all your site’s activity, from total page views to referrers, referring URLs, audience, devices, keywords, locations, etcetera.
But still, you should not depend on it.
You need a reason, eh?
I've got it at hand.
Because Blogger's stats counter counts all your site’s incoming traffic and sums it up in one place without specification, It doesn’t differentiate between bot traffic and real traffic. All those traffics are shown to you categorically by today, yesterday, this month, last month, and all time without specifying which one is real and which one is bot traffic."
Those numbers shown to you aren’t your real traffic. May be your site is getting only 90 genuine page views, and there are more than 200 bots visiting your site daily.
Blogger's stats counter will sum those bot and human page views, then display the total result to you on your blog stats page. Actually, you may not understand your blog’s real traffic if you continue using Blogger's default stats counter.
But there's a solution at hand.
Why not give Google Analytics a try? It’s one of the best real-time tracking services out there.
Also, you can configure Google Analytics with your blog using your Google Analytics property ID at your blogger blog’s settings page.
